The Dance Conservatory Program

The school is a Classical Ballet based program with supplementary classes in numerous other dance styles including Jazz, Modern, Tap, Theatre Dance and Voice. Repertory, Performance, and BTD Company classes are designed to challenge students to apply technical aptitude and stylistic awareness to diverse choreographed pieces. Ballet Theatre of Dover (BTD) is a performance group made up of select students of the school.

Dance Conservatory prepares its students for performance, if that is their goal, and uses performance as part of their training, but our Mission is, as it was for Balanchine:
"But first, a school."

A Tradition of Excellence - Our 26th Year

The school has provided classes to the community for recreational or career–directed students. Our students have gone on to perform with companies such as Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Ballet Tech (NY), Dutch National Ballet (Amsterdam), Pennsylvania Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, and Broadway touring companies. Students receive scholarships to institution schools, colleges and universities including School of American Ballet (SAB), ABT, University of the Arts (PA), and Boston Conservatory.

Dance Conservatory is proud to have our graduates finish high school in their home environment and qualify for the highest levels of America's prestigious dance colleges and institutions. During the summer, the students enjoy the classes of Master teachers like Ruben Graciani, a teacher and dancer from the Mark Morris Dance Company; Alexander Boitsov, formerly of the Donetsk Ballet in Russia; and Giuseppe Canale, of the Maurice Bejart Dance Company and the Dutch National Ballet (home to one of our graduates, Chelsea King).

Our tuition structure ensures that students progress at their own pace and maintain the most productive training. It is a structure comparable to that of the finest private academic schools and dance institutions. This year, we will again offer Performance classes, in which repertory pieces in jazz, tap, and other dance styles will be learned for community performances throughout the year.
