| | The Dance Conservatory Program
The school is a
Classical Ballet based program with supplementary classes in numerous other
dance styles including Jazz, Modern, Tap, Theatre Dance and Voice. The Repertory
and Performance classes are designed to challenge students to apply technical
aptitude and stylistic awareness to diverse choreographed pieces.
Dance Conservatory
prepares its students for performance, if that is their
goal, and uses performance as part of their training, but
our Mission is, as it was for Balanchine:
"But first, a school."
A Tradition of Excellence - Our
23rd Year
Dance Conservatory's
Pre-Professional Program offers numerous opportunities for students to
pursue careers in the performing arts. Our students have gone on to perform with
companies such as Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet Theatre, Ballet
Tech (NY), Dutch National Ballet (Amsterdam), Pennsylvania Ballet, North
Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, and Broadway touring companies.
Students have also received scholarships to institution schools, colleges and
universities including School of American Ballet (SAB), University of the Arts
(PA), Mercyhurst College, Boston Conservatory, Butler College and Long Island
University.

Dance Conservatory
is proud to have our graduates finish high school in their home environment and
qualify for the highest levels of America's prestigious dance colleges and
institutions. Our outstanding faculty includes Mrs. Carla Fillman, who
has a BFA in Dance from Pointe Park College in Pennsylvania, and
teacher/choreographer Destiny Kerstetter. During the summer, the students
enjoy the classes of Master teachers like Ruben
Graciani, a teacher and dancer from the Mark Morris Dance Company; Alexander
Boitsov, formerly of the Donetsk Ballet in Russia; and Giuseppe Canale,
of the Maurice Bejart Dance Company and the Dutch National Ballet (home to one
of our graduates, Chelsea King).
Our tuition
structure ensures that students progress at their own pace and maintain the most
productive training. It is a structure comparable to that of the finest private
academic schools and dance institutions. This year, we will again offer
Performance classes, in which repertory pieces in jazz, tap, and other dance
styles will be learned for community performances throughout the year.
