The Ballet Theatre of Dover’s summer performance will be held on
Wednesday, August 4 and Thursday, August 5 at the Schwartz Center for
the Arts in downtown Dover. Both performances are at 7 pm.
The Ballet
Theatre of Dover will present dances from the ballet Raymonda,
which is set in the Middle Ages during the time of the crusades. An
abundance of Hungarian- influenced dances will be performed together
with several Middle Eastern overtones and color.
Jukebox
Suites features music from the 40's through the 80's. Featured music
includes songs from Patti La Belle, Elvis Pressley, Jerry Lee Lewis and
the Coasters among others.

a trip down "memory lane" with the music and dances that
shaped generations.

Last
year's performance, La Bayadere tells the
story of the ill–fated relationship between a temple priestess,
Nikiya, and the warrior, Solor. Guest artist is Oliver Beres from The
Carolina Ballet Company in North Carolina. He is a native of Hungary.
Another suite of dances in the performance is "Legacy'" a
showcase of pieces by American composers from simple Appalachian and
Quaker music to music by Scott Joplin, John Cage and John Philip
Sousa.
Featuring student repertory works from classical
and contemporary repertoire. Classical pieces have included Dances from Sleeping
Beauty, Le Corsaire and
La Bayadere. Contemporary pieces featured A
Hard Day’s Night (a suite on Beatles
tunes), Speedway (based on NASCAR racing) and Slaughter
on 10th Avenue (from the Broadway show
“On Your Toes”).
Tickets for Summer Performances are $ 15.00 for Adults and
$ 10.00 for Students & Seniors.
