ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
TERESA EMMONS
Teresa Emmons earned her post graduate degree in Dance from The Juilliard School in New York. She has danced professionally with the San Diego Ballet, The State of Alabama Ballet (now Ballet South), and all over the United States in a wide variety of classical and contemporary roles. She has choreographed and conducted classes for regional and professional dance companies including Philadanco, Dance Theatre of Harlem and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
Mrs. Emmons has coached dancers for international ballet competitions such as The Prix Du Lausanne, the New York International Ballet Competition, and the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), now the world’s largest international ballet competition. She was also the Regional Director of the Youth America Grand Prix, America’s first international ballet and contemporary dance competition for serious dance students that awards scholarships to schools including the Joffrey Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School in London and the School of American Ballet in New York, and the Paris Opera Ballet School. The top award is an Apprenticeship Contract to America Ballet Theatre.
With Dr. Angela Smith, current head of Orthopedics at the A.I. Dupont Institute, she conducted clinics for dancers in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
She designed Dover High School’s NEW Academy of the Arts Program. Dover High School’s dance residency program had earned “Best Practices in Education” and “Most Innovative Grant” Awards. The Academy’s dance program students have consistently earned scholarships and acceptances to institution schools, colleges and universities.
She is part of a collaborative team organized by the University of Delaware in exploring interdisciplinary collaboration in Music, Theatre, Poetry, Visual Arts and Dance.
